If you’re an online marketer I hope you enjoyed the clickbait.
Many internet entrepreneurs aren’t getting enough vitamin C and D.
And no I’m not talking about taking health supplement I’m talking about more important things than supplements and nutrition.
Vitamin C is your connections with other people. Real connections vis-a-vis a face to face interactions.
Vitamin D is the sun. You need to spend time in the great outdoors.
A lot of ambitious, hardworking people are lacking these two things. I’m thinking of people that put all their energy into their careers and end up working 50-80 hour weeks at their office. Traditional knowledge workers – bankers, lawyers, businessmen etc. This can cause family issues such as divorce or feelings estrangement, substance abuse issues such as alcoholism, as well as a number of other issues.
Or they can be absolute studs. Working hard and bringing home the bacon to their family, allowing their kids to go to great schools, allowing their spouse to be a homemaker, and being able to enjoy nice vacations and the finer things in life.
It’s all about balance.
Balance is one of the hardest things for internet entrepreneurs to achieve. You know that feeling when you’ve been on your compute working on a project for 10 or 12 hours and you feel completely disoriented and spaced out? Online marketers, SEOs, other internet entrepreneurs can feel like this all the time. If you’re launching a new website and spending at least 8 hours per day writing content, marketing, networking, and working with VAs you can be absolutely exhausted and spaced out after. Lets extrapolate this to an entire week, an entire month, six months – you get the idea.
You end up as an absolute space case that can’t communicate with anyone. It’s not good for the business or your mental health.
So there’s a balance between staying sane and doing an ungodly amount of work. Because you need to do both if you want to win big league. If you don’t want to become incredibly wealthy than that’s fine, you don’t need to worry about this.
If you want to be a successful internet entrepreneur that succeeds over the long term you need to carefully schedule recreation. You need to exercise, spend time outdoors in the sun, and enjoy time with your loved ones. But you need to hustle harder than 99% of other people.
If you are working a 9-5 job and building an online business, there are times you will realize you haven’t done anything “for fun” over the last month. Your coworkers will ask you what you got up to over the weekend and you will say “not much” or make something up. It’s all love though, you wouldn’t be doing it if you didn’t love it. And when you’re at the top you will look back and realize how hard you were hitting it.
It’s paradoxical, but you’re the only one that can make it work. You need to balance work and life but don’t expect to find work life balance if you want to be rich. Enjoy life and especially enjoy your work, because your competition is catching up to you.
